NEW TRAINING METHODS FOR NEURAL NETWORKS
Neural networks attempt to learn solutions to problems by emulating
simplified neurons. They are becoming increasingly popular for
helping solve complex problems such as vehicle guidance\, face
identification\, handwritten text recognition\, and spam filtering.
This talk presents research into new neural network training methods
such as particle swarm optimization (PSO) and neighbor annealing\,
combined with a divide-and-conquer approach\, that may enable neural
networks to solve even larger problems.

EFFECTIVE SOFTWARE TESTING
This presentation covers the lifecycle of software testing\, beginning
with the gathering and capturing of requirements in a process called
Business Driven Development\, all the way to runtime performance
testing.The objective is to show that Rational® software quality
solutions and best practices can provide programmers with the
framework and tools needed to use excellence in software testing as a
strategic business advantage.

Come one\, come all to the final LAN party of the semester! We now have Team Fortress II on the computers\, and I hear that Bomberman and Worms Armageddon will be available. You can also or play one of the usual games like Starcraft or Unreal Tournament.
Admission is $5\, preferably paid in advance so we know how much PIZZA AND DRINKS to get.

Eat\, drink\, and be merry at the CS Club Potluck at Magnolia Park on Bodway and Middlebrook\, a short walk south from the SSU campus. It's a potluck\, so everyone please bring something to eat and drink or else you'll just have to be merry. We may have a barbeque if someone brings something that can be barbequed.
The park has tennis courts\, lots of parking\, and plenty of fields to play in. Jon mentioned having several frisbees in dire need of use. Bring other play material if you have another idea in mind.
The party will probably move into Jon's house when it gets too dark.
