About the CS Club Website

General Information

The CS Club website URL is:
http://segfault.cs.sonoma.edu/

The web site is built with Drupal, an extensible weblog package. More information about Drupal is at the Drupal home page:
http://drupal.org/

Points of contact as of 2008:

  • The official webmaster is David Turover.
  • The server administrator is Roger Mamer of the CS Department.

Creating an account

Just click the "Create an Account" link on the left sidebar to get started. The site requires new users to have an email address at sonoma.edu or cs.sonoma.edu. If you wish to use a different email address, contact a webmaster and we can add an exception.

Customizing your account

After logging in, click on "My Account" in the left sidebar to view your public account details. You can click on the Edit tab to edit this information, add a signature or user icon to your posts, or change the CSS theme that you view the site in.

Adding content to the site

There are three things we generally use the site for: Calendar events, polls, and blog postings. All are created through the "Create Content" link which appears on the left sidebar after you log in. Blog entries will be listed in the left sidebar under Recent Blog Posts. Events will be added to the site's event calendar.

You need to be a CS Club member to add an event to the calendar, but any logged-in user can create blog content or start a poll.

The site currently requires administrator permissions to bring a post to the front page. Contact an administrator if you want to promote an item of yours to the front page.

RSS Feed Locations

It's a bit of a secret, but Drupal publishes RSS feeds that you can read with an RSS reader.
